Make sure you update!

Version 1.2 on the iPhone and version 1.1 for Android are available now. If you haven’t updated yet, please do so as these versions contain fixes for a nasty issue when saving or reviewing your 50th match on the phone… We just had an Android crash report submitted for precisely this bug but we have no way whatsoever to respond to the person who hit the problem. (Thanks Android!)

iPhone update coming soon

Just a heads-up that we’ve submitted an updated version (1.2) of our iPhone app to the App Store. This fixes a nasty bug that occurs when trying to continue, review or upload the 50th match you have recorded – ouch! With this update you will now be able to complete that upload, in the usual manner, by reviewing the match and selecting ‘Upload’. We’ll post again once the new version has got its necessary export compliance and App Store review approval…

Available on the Android Market

Was anyone else starting to think it would never happen?! We’re delighted to announce that the MySnookerStats app is finally available for free download from the Android Market. If you love this app, we’d love for you to recommend us to all your snooker buddies.

iPhone development

The MySnookerStats software has now been available on Java-enabled phones for two years. Unfortunately, Apple’s iPhone is not java-enabled and to develop software for it, you have to learn to speak a whole new language using a wholly different computer system. We’ve got a stack of books, a trusty Mac Mini, and a large project ahead of us to get the software you love running on the gadget that everyone loves.

While the new system still feels pretty foreign, we’re now seeing the first signs that the development is moving in the right direction, but trying to set aside the time necessary to complete it is a huge challenge given everything else that’s happening at the moment. It’s looking like end 2010 could be the due date for this baby. Let’s hope it’s here for Christmas…
